My supervisor read my last post, and suggested that I try using the Goal-Question-Metric Process so that I can monitor and manage my team's group-work dynamic.  As we learned in the project management unit, this process has the following steps:
•    establishes the goals;
•    break the goals into sub-goals, stated in the form of questions that have to be answered; and
•    identify metrics that address the sub-goal questions.

Here’s what I came up with. I sketched it out on paper, took a photo, and uploaded it here.

Goal Question Metric

I started my major project today. This will be a team-based project done in collaboration with an industry partner. I'll keep my Engineering Logbook in my iPortfolio.  The project goal is to tackle an engineering problem of significant scope, and to develop engineering project management skills. Everyone on the team has been assigned a management role like team leader, planning manager, quality manager, support manager, etc.  I’ve been given the team leader role. This is a big responsibility. Not only will I be held accountable for delivering a quality product on-time, I’ll also be assessed on my leadership skills. Doing a good job on the technical part should be easy.  How I foster a healthy team dynamic will be harder. I’m a little unsure where to start on that one.
