About Me

Emma-Lee Finch (Example iPortfolio)

Welcome to my iPortfolio

Hi, my name is Emma-Lee Finch and I am a student at Curtin University. I am currently in the final year of my Nutrition and Health Promotion double degree.

I currently participate in a self organised work experience program at Diabetes WA where I am involved in an interactive, online program called My Healthy Balance. I am currently completing my 100 hour placement with the same organisation where I am developing an energy balance tool for My Healthy Balance.

I also volunteer with the UWA Health Promotion Unit where I help conduct Tertiary Alcohol Program quizz nights and Pit Stop events. I am a casual employee at Pilgrim Clothing and a group guide for the Physical Activity and Nutrion for Seniors project.

I am very passionate about health promotion and I look forward to graduating so I can put my skills into practice, and further develop as a health promoter. I enjoy showing people simple ways to improve their health and also any discussions with them about their health concerns.

What let me to a  double degree in Nutrition/Health Promotion?

I commenced University immediately after completing high school. I had always been passionate about helping people and decided to study Occupational Therapy. After one year of this degree, my passion for nutrition developed and I transferred into the Nutrition degree. I completed two years of the degree when I realised that I wasn't fulfilling my passion to help and inform people, and so I changed into the double degree of Nutrition/Health Promotion.

I am thoroughly enjoying this degree and looking forward to putting my skills into practice. The degree encompases many of my passions and allows individuals to be creative. I have learnt that I really want to be a health promoter and help create health promoting commuities to enable individuals to make healthly behavioural changes.
